Armin cast his gaze back and forth between you and Levi, taking in the scene before him, letting his blue orbs rest on each of you in turn. Your (e/c) eyes were puffy from crying, your breath was shallow and hitched and your body was shaking vigorously from anger and pain. Armin gave you a look of pity, his eyes apologetic as if he blamed himself for the current events. Armin then let his gaze move to Levi. Levi had been crying too, however it didn’t show as much on him. His eyes only faintly resembled puffiness, and his breathing was more controlled and steadier than yours, almost at a normal rhythm. Armin let his eyes read the room, letting them tell him all he needed to know. You could practically here his brain ticking softly, as he pieced together the events which had taken place just moments earlier.

Although his body language suggested he was calm, you couldn’t help but notice the look of fear that flashed through his gorgeous blue orbs like lightning, bright and clear but quick and missable. The look of fear quickly faded much like lightning itself as he got a hold of himself, turning his gaze to a mild look of caution, desperate not to show any signs of weakness in the presence of the stronger man. “Well” he said after what seemed like an eternity. Straightening his back as he did so to gain some sort of power, sounding generally neutral and calm about the whole thing. You couldn’t tell whether he was faking his calmness or not as his body and eyes gave no indication on how he was really feeling anymore, however if he was faking it, it was an impressive performance you had to give him that. “This is... interesting” Armin muttered before slowly walking passed Levi into the joined kitchen, placing his bags on the table and slipping his navy blue coat off his shoulders. You couldn’t help but stare at the way Armin took off his coat, the way he gently rolled his shoulders back to allow his coat to slip smoothly off them. The way his body seemed to curve as he turned from the waist up to the side slightly to pull his right arm out of the sleeve. You loved the way he moved, so subtle and delicate but with precision and purpose, no movement that wasn’t needed was used. Armin kept his eyes fixed firmly on Levi the whole time, completely oblivious to your (e/c) gaze observing his every move. Levi on the other hand noticed your travelling eyes and you could practically feel the jealously roll off him like a torrent of water, swamping the entire room in a thick wave of awkward tension. You could see the rivalry sparking between the two men, making the air feel electric and dangerous.

Armin hung his coat loosely on the back of one the dining chairs before taking a few steps back to lean casually against one of the kitchen counters. “Hello Levi” he said politely, although his voice oozed caution like it was smothered with honey.

“Hello Armin” Levi replied, his steel grey eyes locked together with the blonds blue ones, nether one of them wanting to be first to break the contact. “Nice house you have here.”

Armin smiled slightly, his gaze a mixture of hospitable and stern, his voice still level and polite. “Thank you, it is rather pleasant isn’t it. How are you, keeping well?”

“Well enough all things considered thanks, how are you?”

“I’m very well, thank you for asking.”

Levi paused this time before speaking again, choosing his words carefully, figuring out the best way to deliver them, not wanting to come off as smug or rude. “This is rather... civil” he said at last, narrowing his eyes and shifting his weight. His voice had a hint of a threat, but this was ignored by Armin.

Armin broke the eye contact they had shared and cast his gaze down to the side, smirking slightly as he did so. “Well I’m a very civil guy” he said quietly before returning his perfect blue orbs back to Levi, his eyes now dark and his face once again straight. “What are you doing here?” he questioned, keeping his voice level and strong. “(Name) isn’t in the mood to talk right now so I’d recommend you leave and give her time, she needs to clear her head and think about what she’s going to do next. Possibly come back once she’s feeling more willing to talk things through.”

Levi changed his body position, putting all his weight on one leg and resting a hand on his hip. He smirked slightly but kept his voice the same polite tone. “And if I don’t leave?” he asks, he knew that if he really wanted to, he could stay as long as he liked and Armin wouldn’t be able to stop him or force him out. Suddenly you feared for Armin’s safety but it was as if the two men had forgotten you even excised, to busy caught up in there stupid man pride battle or whatever it was they were doing. Armin’s sudden smile took Levi by surprise, throwing him slightly before Levi regained his cool again. “What?” Armin said putting his head down but keeping his eyes fixed on Levi apprehensive form. “Are you going to fight me or something? Attack me in my own home?” Levi gave Armin a questioning look before answering. ‘Was this a threat?’ he thought. ‘Was Armin daring him to fight?’ Everyone in the room knew that Levi could kick Armin’s arse in under a second but there was something about Armin that concerned Levi. The way he smirked as he delivered his words, the knowing gleam in his hardened blue eyes, the way his right hand curled around the handle of a draw and his body language. He was like a coiled spring, ready to jump the second Levi moved towards him. “If I had to then yes. I need to talk to (Name) and nothing is going to stop me. I’m not afraid to break you” Levi answered.

You stare in shock at him. ‘He couldn’t’ you think ‘he wouldn’t’. You were scared for Armin, no, terrified for him! You could fight Levi somewhat, if you surprised him you could even win and the thought of rugby tackling him became more and more appealing by the second. Armin smiled at Levi’s words before shrugging. You could tell he was nervous, the small sweat that was building on his face told you everything. “Well” Armin said, his smile still standing. He gestured to the draw he was holding with a flick of his head. “I’m not standing in the kitchen for funzies you know, and I didn’t lean against this particular counter out of share chance. This draw I’m holding happens to contain all of my kitchen knives. I’m not saying I would kill you, but I would give you a nasty cut if you tried anything. Out of self defence of course.” Levi suddenly went very pale, his eyes searching Armin for some kind of bluff. When he didn’t find one he just nodded, “I’ll take my leave then” he said quietly. Armin nodded “it would be for the best.”

Armin escorted Levi out of the house, keeping a safe distance from the ebony haired man. Once Levi had left Armin locked the door and walked into the living room again before letting out a sign. He seemed to get physically weaker after releasing it so you ran towards him, pulling him in for a hug, holding him tightly against you, not wanting to let go. Armin gave a nervous laugh, relieving all the tension he had built up during the confrontation and relaxing fully into you, rapping his arms around your waist. His face buried his face into your neck and laughed again, relieving his stress levels down to a comfortable level. “Glad that’s over” he said shakily, his voice laced with nerves. You smiled “I thought you were amazing! I didn’t know you were so brave!” Armin laughed at that “Brave?” he questioned, “I thought I was gonna wet myself! I’d never been so scared in my life!” You laughed with him, breathing in his warm scent, feeling his body pressed against yours. Your world was perfect like this, your world was perfect with him. “It didn’t show” you said gently “you looked brave, thank you for doing that for me.” Armin rubbed your back before putting his forehead to yours, staring straight into your eyes. You felt locked into his gaze, his perfect blue orbs trapping you, making you unable to look away from their splendour. “I know you can take care of yourself” he whispered quietly, his breath tickling your lips, making them tingle with need. “But I’d do anything for you.”

Then something changed and Armin looked at you suddenly nervous. He leaned in slightly, unsure of what to do but the need in his eyes when he looked at your lips told you everything. You leaned in to, desperate and spur him on, desperate to feel his lips on yours. He’s eyes start to close so you close yours, your hand starts to play with his hair, his soft silky golden locks that have been desperate to feel for so long. You can feel his lips mere millimetres from yours, and wait eagerly for the kiss. You crave it, you NEED it. You couldn’t hide your love for him, not any longer. You want him so bad it hurts. Just before his lips touch yours the sound of the doorbell breaks your moment of perfection. Startled you both snap away from each other before your lips could meet. Armin goes to the door, unlocking it and pulling it open to reveal Eren who was looking frantically at him. “Hey Armin are you alright!? I saw Levi leave and I wanted to see if anything happened are you ok? How’s (Name) is she in?” “Yeah she’s in” Armin replied, unable to hide the disappointment from his voice. Eren doesn’t pick up on his friend’s dull tone and hurries into the living room to comfort you. Armin doesn’t look at you while Eren’s there, his eyes are cast to the side and he avoids your gaze.

‘How stupid of me’ Armin thinks miserably to himself as you chat easily with Eren, laughing at a joke he makes, the sound crushing his heart, making him feel sick. ‘She could never love me, I should just stop kidding myself. Stop being a pathetic little creep, happiness is too good for you Armin, just stay in the friend zone where you belong. I mean this has to be a sign, try to kiss her and your best friend turns up in time to be the biggest cock block in history. Either that or there’s some divine being fucking with me. This proves that gods real! I mean how can one guy be so unlucky if it wasn’t for some great being screwing them over from behind the pearly gates.’ Armin feels eyes on him and looks up to see (Name) looking at him, a soft smile on her face, her eyes begging him to smile back. Armin returns her smile and she relaxes, but still watches him. Armin could feel his cheeks burn red so he covered his face with his hair, hiding his blush from the world. ‘Maybe I have a chance’ he thought to himself ‘I just need to wait for the right time...

It could be any day now...’
